Promo Codes are only able to be used if a customer is signed into an account. The customer is restricted to use an account to be able to stop a customer from multiple uses of a Promo Code if there are restrictions to the amount of times a Promo Code can be used.

If the customer attempt use of a Promo Code using Checkout as Guest they will receive the following pop up message.
